RUNESCAPE 99 DIARIES - ENTRY 4 - 12.18.2023
I got a bit tired of creating "ready to bake pies" and decided to leave the confines of the cooking guild. My travels somehow took me all the way to the Fremennick Province. I quickly discovered that the locals had no interest in speaking to outsiders. I originally traveled to the region because I heard word that a ship could take me to an area overflowing with apples.
I wove a dozen fruit baskets to bring back my bounty. My disappointment was immense when I discovered I'd be stuck on land until I impressed the Fremennick people. It seemed ridiculously involved - impressing some 7+ council members in order for the citizens to have permission to speak to me. So, I decided to lay my apple picking ambitions to the side for the moment.
This is when I stumbled on a nice little way to farm my attack XP. Scattered on the Fremennick shores were rock crabs. Not an imposing foe, but they each have 50 hit points. I sat for hours slaying crabs and racking up XP while hardly taking a lick of damage.
At this point, I made a critical error. I regularly play RS while playing other games. For example, if I die early round in Counter Strike 2 (I should start writing about that) I'll initiate some sort of XP farming activity until the round is over.
Well, I must have logged out while a crab was attacking me, because when I logged back in, I found my character nearly naked and sitting at the doorstep of the Lumbridge Castle.
While frustrating, it wasn't much of a setback. I had a little chat with Death and was able to get everything back.
I was a little stumped with what I should do next. Considering the situation with the Fremennick people, I thought it might be good to focus on some lower level quests. I'd surely run into more roadblocks in the future if I ignored questing.
I was surprised at the amount of depth some of the RS quests had. I didn't focus on questing when I used to play, so this was all new to me. I think I completed five quests since I last wrote. I was impressed with the murder mystery quest (can't remember the name). It had the essence of an old Sierra point-and-click, albei t with less frustrating solutions.
It's already too much to type out all of my XP stats each entry, so I won't be listing my quests one-by-one as I complete them. But, I can maybe list the total amount of quests I've completed. Won't be this entry, but I'll get around to it.
